This
animated program is bases on the popular Arthur children’s book series
by author/illustrator Marc Brown. It follows the adventures and misadventures
of eight-year-old Arthur Read, his little sister, D.W., and his friends
and family. Each Arthur episode consists of two independent stories
that focuses on themes and events central to the characters’ lives.
The animated stories are linked by a live action segment featuring
elementary school children who create their own Arthur-related activities. Barney,
the lovable purple dinosaur and his young friends share adventures
featuring songs, dances and games that make learning fun for children.
Barney and his dino-pals, Baby Bop and BJ, are joined by a cast of
children. For four decades, THE BERENSTAIN BEARS books have delighted children worldwide and introduced them to a range of important values. Starring Mama, Papa, Brother and Sister, the new animated THE BERENSTAIN BEARS features a supporting cast of friendly and furry characters that make up the nurturing community of Bear Country. THE BERENSTAIN BEARS instills timeless life lessons and reflects the traditional community values of country life. The series gives children the opportunity to learn about and perform family roles and relationships, and engage in exercises involving socio-emotional competence. award-winning PBS children's series is named for a family of lions — Theo,
Cleo, Lionel and Leona — who run a library like no other on earth.
The doors "between the lions" swing open to reveal a magical
place where characters pop off the pages of books, vowels sing, and
words take on a life of their own. The series combines innovative
puppetry, animation, live action, and music to achieve its educational
mission of helping young children learn to read. BOB
THE BUILDER is a stop frame, animated series aimed at preschoolers
(two- to five-year olds). Each episode follows the adventures of
Bob and his machines: Scoop the leader/digger, Muck the digger/dumper,
Dizzy the cement mixer, Lofty the crane and Roley the steamroller.
Bob’s business partner, Wendy, and Pilchard the cat also help out
in the builder’s yard. Other characters include Farmer Pickles, his
tractor, Travis, and the naughty scarecrow Spud — who is always up
to mischief. Developed for children three to six years old, BOOHBAH is designed to engage, inspire and delight kids with compelling visuals and interactive situations. The show integrates science, technology and fantasy, creating a one-of-a-kind participatory television experience for kids. Emphasizing the importance of movement and logical thinking in overall child development, this unique program encourages children to move, dance and create stories. The Boohbahs — five colorful atoms of energy — and all of the actions in Storyworld, are powered by the laughter and joy of real children, thus helping kids develop problem solving skills, and understand predicting and cause and effect situations. Website: http://pbskids.org/boohbah/boohbah.html Growing
up is not so tough — especially with a friend like Caillou (pronounced
KY-YOO), a lovable four-year-old who has a unique way of relating
to the world. Based on a series of best-selling Canadian children’s
books, CAILLOU® demonstrates how the first experiences of life, from
going to the park to understanding one’s own family, can be perceived
with wonder and a sense of discovery. Blending animation and live-action
segments with humor, kid logic and imagination, Caillou helps preschoolers
make sense of the world. The stories address real problems and conflicts
typical to a young child’s development. Through it all, Caillou remains
an irresistible little boy, in a very big world, with whom every
young child and parent can identify. Based on the popular Scholastic Book series by Norman Bridwell about the lovable oversized canine with his head in the clouds but four paws planted firmly on the ground, Clifford presents a larger-than-life view of the world. With his loving human, Emily Elizabeth, and dog pals, Cleo and T-Bone, Clifford inhabits a colorful island community, inviting viewers on a fun-filled journey through childhood, navigating the dips and curves along the way. CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG emphasizes good citizenship and the importance of community. Each episode concludes with a component of "Clifford’s Big Ideas" — 10 different attributes children learn to embrace — which leaves them with something to think about and practice in their lives. Website: http://pbskids.org/clifford Just
as the original series featured Clifford’s 10 Big Ideas, CLIFFORD’S
PUPPY DAYS stories will revolve around “Clifford’s Ideas to Grow
On,” 10 simple life lessons such as Share, Work Together, Play Fair
and Be a Good Friend. All ideas are designed to help young children
navigate their world and to foster self-acceptance, friendship and
a sense of community. Clifford may be the biggest dog that ever was,
but he wasn’t always that way. As true fans of the colossal, crimson
canine know, Clifford was actually the runt of his litter — a teeny,
tiny, bright red bundle of energy. Emily Elizabeth fell in love with
little Clifford at first sight. It’s hard to believe, but back in
his puppy days Clifford barely filled Emily Elizabeth’s dad’s palm — he
was, however, still quite the handful! Making his way in the big
world was no small feat for this tiny pup, but even back then he
had the same huge heart and good humor that continue to win him friends
and fans anywhere he goes. Math rules in CYBERCHASE, a new animated adventure series. CYBERCHASE energizes kids (ages 8-11) with math power. Full of cyber-mysteries with eye-popping animation and a sly comic flair, the daily series features the voices of Christopher Lloyd and Gilbert Gottfried. CYBERCHASE sends the message that math is fun — math is about problem solving and, boy, does it come in handy. When the dastardly villain Hacker (Lloyd) launches a mad mission to conquer the virtual universe, Motherboard calls upon three Earth kids for help. They are Jackie, Matt and Inez — the culturally diverse heroes of CYBERCHASE — who, along with the wise-cracking cyber-bird Digit (Gottfried), travel from their real-world realm to the colorful virtual vistas of cyberspace where they vanquish the bad guys in an all-out battle of wits. Each episode takes the kids on a thrilling adventure driven by a different math concept — from tackling time in ancient Egyptian tombs, to cracking codes in creepy caves, or making sense of numbers in a fractured fairy tale world. Website: http://pbskids.org/cyberchase This
animated series for children chronicles the adventures of six-year-old
Emmy and her four-year-old brother, Max, who discover a magic dragon
scale in the playroom of their new home. When they hold the scale
and chant a poem, they’re transported to Dragon Land, an enchanted
land where they meet Ord, Cassie, Zak and Wheezie (a two-headed dragon)
and Quetzal — fantastical dragons that possess very human qualities.
Through its stories, the series demonstrates different strategies
that children can use to explore the emotional, physical, cognitive
and social challenges they face. Each episode features a situation
that Emmy, Max and the dragons confront together. Each half-hour
is divided into two 12-minute adventures linked by Dragon Tunes — a
music video segment led by the dragons and designed to encourage
audience participation. IT'S
A BIG BIG WORLD is an innovative new preschool science series that
will offer parents and kids new ways to think and talk about the
world. Produced in "Shadowmation," a patented technique
combining puppet animatronics with computer generated animation,
the television series will feature a diverse group of animal characters
brought to vibrant life in a lush jungle setting. With a unique curriculum
that brings science and geography to preschoolers, IT'S A BIG BIG
WORLD presents science not just as a series of facts, but as an exciting
process of discovery.
JAKERS!
THE ADVENTURES OF PIGGLEY WINKS, for four- to seven-year-olds, follows
the adventures of Piggley Winks™, a spunky eight-year-old pig, and
his friends Dannan the Duck and Ferny the Bull on Raloo Farm in Ireland.
While the intrepid trio are enjoying their escapades — “Jakers!™” is
their oft-used Irish expression of amazement and delight — American
transplant Wiley™ the Sheep is busy offering wild and woolly advice
to his all-too-sheepish flock. In an act of “shear” comic genius,
renowned funnyman Mel Brooks voices the role of Wiley. Website: http://pbskids.org/mayaandmiguel/flash.html Mister Rogers talks in a way young children understand, at a pace they can absorb and with a consistency that creates a calm, safe place for preschoolers. Topics with sensitive emotional concerns are always carefully blended with fun and whimsy to match a young child’s interests and level of understanding. Website: http://pbskids.org/rogers Arthur’s best friend Buster stars in his very own series! POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER™, a new half-hour ARTHUR® spin-off, blends animation with live-action footage of Buster’s travel adventures throughout the United States, with forays into Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Targeting children ages four to eight, this groundbreaking series is part of the PBS KIDS GO!(SM) weekday lineup. Buster, one of the most popular characters on ARTHUR — the Emmy® Award-winning animated series based on Marc Brown’s books about an eight-year-old aardvark and his family and friends — accompanies his airline pilot father as he flies the Latin rock group Los Viajeros on a concert tour. To stay in touch with friends back home, Buster mails them live-action video “postcards” he creates of the people and places he visits. Narrated by Buster, his P.O.V.-style footage is woven seamlessly into each animated story. Website: http://pbskids.org/buster The
Emmy Award-winning series, hosted by LeVar Burton, continues its
17th season on PBS, taking young viewers on adventures that help
stimulate an interest in reading for pleasure and entertainment. SESAME
STREET has garnered more than 100 awards, including multiple Emmys,
two Peabodys, four Parents’ Choice Awards and an Action for Children’s
Television Special Achievement Award. The series delivers academic
and social education that prepares kids for grade school. Since its
premiere, the show’s base curriculum has been set by academic research
on preschoolers.
